Police have revealed why a cordon was put in place at Nursling Recreation Ground.
Local residents shared their concerns after spotting the cordon at the popular green space.
And now, the force has issued a statement explaining what happened.
Officers were called after 3.30pm on Monday following a report of a suspicious item at the grounds.
This was suspected to be part of an unexploded ordnance device.
A cordon was put in place by officers to ensure the safety of the public while the item was investigated.
Enquiries revealed that the item was not an unexploded ordnance device.
It was safely disposed of, and the cordon was lifted by 6pm.
