Motorists are being warned that highway works on the Marchwood bypass close to Rushington roundabout will take until next summer to complete.

The scheme, to provide a bus only right turn lane from the A326 onto Marchwood Bypass and reduce journey time for buses travelling between Southampton and The Waterside, are due to begin next month.

Hampshire County Council has published details of the scheme,  which will also provide new bus stops and shelters, as well as improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists travelling in the area.

Daily Echo: Marchwood bypass near Rushington roundabout

The first phase of construction, which will run until early next year, will begin with a crossing point upgrade, widening pedestrian and cycle ways and the construction of a new 300m bus lane.

Works will take place Monday to Friday, between 9.30am and 4pm.

There will be a temporary pedestrian crossing at the Marchwood bypass approach to Rushington roundabout, and temporary lane closures on the Totton and Marchwood bypasses.

Access to local businesses will be maintained.
