A call for witnesses has been issued after a girl was injured in a 'traumatic' fight on a train which horrified fellow passengers.

A group of young girls were involved in the brawl before noon on Saturday, September 9.

A 17 -year-old girl received minor injuries to her head after three young girls from the group assaulted her.

She was taken to hospital

The British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the scene and are now appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.

A spokesperson from the force said: “Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 2300106199.

“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Passengers on the Winchester to Bournemouth service described the fight as ‘traumatic’.

One woman, who did not wish to be named, said the girl was ‘smacked’ over the head.

Speaking to the Echo last month, she said: “There was blood everywhere.

“It was a really lovely summer’s day so there was a lot of families on the train, but it was all a bit traumatic.”
