AN exit slip road on the A31 will be closed for ‘the next couple of days’ as floodwater is cleared.
There were delays of more than an hour on the A31 westbound due to flooding between Stoney Cross and Picket Post, on Tuesday, November 7.
One lane was closed from around 6.40pm on Monday, November 6.
National Highways said this was for ‘emergency roadworks due to flooding in the area.’ While the exit slip was due to reopen on Tuesday morning, the lane remained closed, with more than five miles of congestion on approach to the junction.
It was reopened at around 12.15pm, but National Highways confirmed that the exit slip road at Picket Post would remain closed for a number of days due to the floods.
National Highways South East said on social media: “The westbound exit slip road at Picket Post will remain closed over the next couple days for ongoing clearance of flood water and heavy duty gulley clearance.”
