Annoyed drivers have vented their frustrations after a Hampshire town was 'gridlocked' during rushour. 

On Monday, November 6, drivers turned to Facebook after getting stuck in traffic in Romsey

One person warned: "Romsey has been gridlocked since earlier this am. If needing to be in Romsey .. please allow extra travel time for your journey today." 

Another person added that it took them an hour to get their children to school from North Baddesley. 

At the time of writing, midday, traffic remains slow in the town centre, with Google maps reporting delays of 22 minutes on the Romsey Bypass.

A footpath has been closed on the Romsey Bypass, from the junction with Middlebridge Street to the junction with Palmerston Street.

It will be closed to pedestrians between 7.30am - 6pm with an alternative pedestrian route established for use during working hours. 

The work started on Monday, October 30 and is expected to last until November 24. 

Delays were also caused on the A27 by a two-vehicle crash on Danes Road on Monday, November 6. 

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 8.59am on Monday, 6 November following a collision on Danes Road.

"The collision involved two vehicles. One person suffered a minor injury."
