The owner of a Southampton fish and chip shop is "over the moon" after scooping a Good Food Award.

The Harefield Fish Bar on Somerset Avenue has been recognised for the quality of its food, customer service, and value for money.

The Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes’ Good Food award is based on a combination of votes from members of the public, a mystery review and the venue's delivery ratings on platforms such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Claudia De Franca, the director and owner of the fish and chip shop, said: “We are absolutely over the moon to share this fantastic news with our customers today.

“Thanks to your unwavering support and love for our chippy, we have been honoured with the prestigious Good Food Award.

“This award is not just a recognition of our exceptional food but a testament to the amazing community of food enthusiasts we have here.

“Your votes and encouragement have played a pivotal role in this achievement, and we can't thank you enough for that."

Claudia said the Harefield Fish Bar was tagged in a social media post about the awards by customers saying the chippy should enter the competition.

The 43-year-old started at the shop as a part time member of staff but when the previous owners moved away, she took over the business.

She previously ran a fish and chip shop in Reading.

Her menu also offers a gluten free range of fish and chips.

Claudia added: “All our food is cooked to order meaning that it is much fresher, crispier and hotter than many other chip shops that cook in bulk.

“A heartfelt thank you goes to all our incredible staff who have poured their passion, dedication, and talent into every dish we serve.”
