A Cambridge University student, a former librarian and a data analyst have appeared in court after a protest on the roof of a Southampton defence firm.

Jan McLachlan, Gireppanavar Satheeschchandra and Adil Mian all appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday accused of causing criminal damage.

It follows a protest on the roof of Leonardo UK’s Southampton factory in Millbrook on Thursday which saw police, firefighters and paramedics attend.

Mclachlan, 68, of Norwich Road, Norwich is a retired librarian.

Her co-accused, Adil Mian is currently a master's student at Cambridge University.

The 28-year-old of Hills Road, Cambridge also lectures at the university.

Gireppanavar Satheeschchandra, 44, is a data analyst of 15 years.

All three pleaded not guilty to a single charge of causing criminal damage having been produced from custody.

They were released on conditional bail to reside at their home addresses and not to enter Hampshire apart from to attend court.

They will next appear at Southampton Crown Court on December 15 at 10am for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
