A man has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out at a fish and chips shop in Shirley.
Kings Fish Bar in Shirley High Street was cordoned off this lunchtime after smoke was seen billowing from the building.
A man, who is believed to have suffered smoke inhalation, was taken away in an ambulance.
Firefighters say the small blaze on the ground floor was out almost immediately after they were called at 11.55am.
Crews from Redbridge, Hightown and St Mary's used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to put out the flames.
What caused the blaze and the extent of the damage caused remains unclear.
