A 14-week lane closure in Hedge End is set to remain in place over Christmas.
The A334 Charles Watts Way has been closed eastbound since November 27 due to works to fix a landslip.
The closure, often causing rush hour delays, is meant to last until April and will continue during the holiday period.
Hampshire County Council previously said the work is essential to prevent further damage to the embankment and reduce the risk of having to close the road in both directions for a longer period of time.
Speaking on the road works when they were first announced, Cllr Nick Adams-King, said: “This issue needs to be fixed now to ensure this busy route can remain useable for the longer term.
“I recognise that this complex repair will cause some disruption in the run-up to the busy Christmas period, but this work is essential to keep the road safe.”
