Christmas Day is almost upon us and some people might be wondering what the weather forecast will be for it in Southampton.

The Met Office has predicted that some northern parts of the UK may experience a 'White Christmas' (which only needs to see a single flake falling to count) but what are the chances for southern England?

Southampton is not expected to see any sort of snow on Christmas Day, with it being fairly mild throughout.

There is a small chance of rain throughout the day and it is expected to be overcast for most of it.

At the time of writing here's what the Met Office is forecasting for Southampton on Boxing Day:

  • 9pm - 10C, cloudy


In terms of the long-term forecast for the festive period, the Met Office says: "The festive period is set to see fairly typical conditions for the time of year, with the winds often fairly strong and from the west or northwest, bringing spells of rain interspersed with cooler and more-showery conditions at times."

It adds: "Conditions further south are likely to be on the mild side occasionally, but perhaps less-so than of late.

"Towards the new year, things don't look like changing a great deal, though temperatures may fall a little, with some snow perhaps falling to lower levels over Scotland with time."
