An 89-year-old woman has been ordered to pay almost £600 for driving without due care and attention on a Hampshire road. 

Patricia Smyth was found guilty of one count of driving without due care and attention. 

She was driving a red Renault along Beaulieu Road in Dibden Purlieu at the time of the offence.

The incident happened on May 17, 2022, and was proved in her absence on May 15, 2023. 

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court in December, Smyth of Fairfield Close, Lymington was fined £440 and received six points on her licence. 

She was also ordered to pay £110 court costs and a £44 surcharge. 

This must be paid in full by January 19.
