On a sunny day in August 1998, the Eastleigh Carnival dog show showcased the remarkable bond between dogs and their young owners.

With pride in their step, dogs confidently strutted alongside their human companions, eager to impress the enthusiastic crowd.

The proud child keepers and their canine chums were out to impress show judge Joan Newman.

She said: “I’ve only heard one yap from the dogs which is amazing considering the number of entries we’ve had. When children are left alone to show dogs, they are often better than adults because they have little expectations.

“The children have been a real pleasure to work with.”

With a turnout of more than 50 participants, the event saw a significant increase in attendance compared to the previous year.
