Pizza Express has announced it is offering 50 per cent off food in Southampton for the next two weeks.

The popular restaurant chain is giving PizzaExpress club members the chance to eat for half the price to "help with the post-Christmas purse strings".

The offer began on January 8 and will run until January 25 at all Pizza Express restaurants across the UK including Southampton, Winchester and Portsmouth.

It follows research by the company showing two-thirds of those born in January agree it is the worst time to have a birthday with 57 per cent opting to spend their birthdays indoors.

A spokesperson for the company said: "With 82% of those polled agreeing that seeing friends and family would help alleviate the ‘January blues’, PizzaExpress is seeking to bring people back together to celebrate life’s big and small occasions, regardless of the month.

"Its ‘VIP’ (that’s Very Impressive Prices) discount is therefore extended to all PizzaExpress Club members, and 25% off for non-loyalty members – regardless of their birth date.

"That’s not all: PizzaExpress is going one further for those who may have fallen victim to the post-festive slump (or forgotten a loved one’s birthday) in the past, with thirty-one free celebratory meals up for grabs via its Instagram page."

T&Cs can be found on the Pizza Express website.
