Two people at the centre of a major operation after they climbed on top of a building near a railway line were talked down by police.

The incident took place shortly before 6pm on Monday night at the St Mary’s Street junction with Northam Road.

Police, paramedics, and fire crews were all in attendance, cordoning off the road as two individuals stood on the roof of a building directly overlooking the railway line below.

They were eventually talked down by police officers in attendance before being checked by paramedics.

The cordon was removed shortly before 8pm. Emergency services then left the scene and the road was reopened to the public.
