Staff at Solent University are set to take strike action over an ongoing pay dispute.

Members of the UNISON Southampton District branch will stage two days of industrial action next week in a bid for fair pay.

Strike action is planned for Tuesday, January 23 and Wednesday, January 24.

This follows regional and national action in September and December 2023.

Kieran Sellars, UNISON steward for Solent University members, said: “It's been so inspiring to see the unity, solidarity, and warmth displayed by members at Solent University.

“I want to thank members for their kind welcomes and support as I've been finding my way in my new role as steward.

“The conviction displayed by members over the last four months of action shows our strength as a collective and I know that together we can be a real force for positive change.”

UNISON Southampton will be organising protest lines outside Solent University’s main campus in East Park Terrace from 8am onwards on both January 23 and 24.

According to the union, this strike action is designed to ram home to management, students and the public the ‘injustices experienced by some of the lowest paid employees in the further and higher education sectors’.
