A woman had to be rescued from the balcony of her flat after a blaze broke out in the boiler cupboard.

Crews were called to the property on Heritage Way, Gosport at around 4.30pm on Wednesday (January 31).

On arrival, they used a ladder to reach the balcony where they rescued the occupant.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters then extinguished the blaze using hose reel jets.

The first floor of the block was later cleared of smoke using ventilation fans.

The rescued woman did not require hospital treatment.
