A man wanted for a serious attack in Eastleigh town centre has been found halfway across the country.

Reece Michael Binks was wanted on a court warrant for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a person in Eastleigh High Street on September 23, 2022.

The 26-year-old's disappearance sparked a major manhunt by police, with officers launching an appeal for information in October last year.

At the time, a spokesperson for Hampshire police said: "Binks has connections to Hampshire, including Eastleigh, but his current whereabouts are unknown.

"Officers have followed various lines of enquiry to locate him and we are now turning to the public for assistance.

"Binks is described as being 5ft 9ins tall, of proportionate build, with brown hair and brown eyes.

"He has a tattoo on the left-hand side of his neck, which reads, 'LILY-ROSE'.

"Caused by an earring, Binks also has a hole in his left ear."

They added: "Anyone found to be harbouring Reece, in order to deliberately obstruct our attempts to locate him, may be committing an offence and be liable for arrest themselves."

After months of searching, Binks was eventually found 166 miles away near Nottingham.

He went to court, where he pleaded guilty for failing to appear and the original offence: inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Crown Court for sentencing on March 1.
