A woman stood up to a thief when he tried to steal her delivery van in a robbery in broad daylight.

On Tuesday, at around 1pm, the victim - a woman in her 20s - had stopped her van on Cranbury Place when a man - unknown to her - approached her.

He demanded the keys to her vehicle, and when she bravely refused he threatened her and took her backpack which contained a set of house keys, car keys, bank cards and loose change.

The woman was uninjured.

Police are investigating this incident and carrying out house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.

They are now appealing to members of the public who may have been there at the time of the robbery and have issued a description of the man they would like to speak to.

A police spokesperson said: "We would now like to hear from anyone who was in the Cranbury Place area at the time and saw what happened, or perhaps saw the man leaving the area."

The man is described as:

  • White
  • Aged approximately in his early 20s
  • Around 5ft 10ins tall
  • Skinny build
  • Wearing a full grey tracksuit and a dark grey face covering.

The spokesperson added: "Were you on Cranbury Place on Tuesday afternoon (February 13)? Did you see what happened or did you see a man matching the above description in the area?

"Perhaps you were in a vehicle and have dash cam footage that may have captured something that could assist our enquiries?
