Children had to be evacuated from a primary school due to the warehouse fire.
The pupils at St Mary's Primary School in Ascupart Street were removed from the school after the plumes of smoke radiating from the blaze in nearby Marine Parade poured over the playground.
The decision was made to move the children to St John's Primary and Nursery School on French Street at around 1.45pm for their own safety.
With the school pick-up looming, school management asked parents to pick up their children from there instead.
By 3pm, the children were being taken home by their parents - but firefighters continued to fight the fire which was still spewing large grey clouds into the Southampton skyline.
