A man has been charged after a police pursuit in Southampton on Monday.

Hampshire police said Shane Robert Michael Flanagan-Stansbridge, 21, of Fritham Road, Southampton, has appeared in court.

He was charged with five attempted burglaries, a burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, criminal damage, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, and threatening a person with an offensive weapon.

He faced city magistrates on Wednesday.

It comes after police said police recovered an abandoned stolen BMW X1 in Dragoon Close in Sholing on Monday night at around 6.30pm.

Police are appealing for information to find four men - in their late teens or early 20s - who were seen near the BMW.

The appeal comes amid an investigation into a series of burglaries in Eastleigh, Hedge End and Southampton.

Car keys were stolen from people’s homes and vehicles taken.
