Fareham Borough Council has published 'Fareham’s Greener Future' showcasing its environmental achievements and future plans.

The magazine illustrates the council's endeavour to manage the borough's green spaces, expand wildlife habitats, and enhance housing infrastructure responsibly.

Fareham’s Greener Future has received approval from the council's Executive and prompted the decision to develop an official environment strategy.

The latter is to direct all future council decisions with a view to safeguarding and amplifying the borough's environment for forthcoming generations. The development of this strategy will commence forthwith, and the council aims to circulate it later this year.

Executive Member for Planning and Development, Councillor Simon Martin, said: “Improving our environment is something that Fareham Borough Council takes very seriously. After all, the vast majority of our staff are also residents of Fareham and want it to be the best that it can be.

"We have already committed to becoming carbon neutral across all our buildings and services by 2030, but ‘environment’ incorporates so much more than carbon reduction. This magazine shines a light on the work that we are doing, behind the scenes, to ensure that Fareham is a place we can all be proud of both today and long into the future."
