BURNT toast at a shared living care facility led to two Shropshire firefighter crews being called out to a property in Oswestry on Wednesday.

One crew each from Oswestry and Ellesmere were sent to Ashwood Extra Care, in Ash Road, around 9pm after reports of a fire.

However, when firefighters arrived, they found the cause to be burnt toast causing the alarm to go off.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesman confirmed firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for any other fire spots but none were found.

A stop message was sent to SFRS control at around 9.20pm to confirm that no further support was needed.
