Two horses on the loose caused the police a headache.

Fareham police launched an appeal to find the owner of the pair, which had escaped their paddock and started exploring the roads in Swanmore.

The horses were seen wandering the road near Horders View at around 5pm on Sunday, March 31.

Looking to quickly locate the owner of the horses, officers took to Facebook to track down the owner of the AWOL equines.

In the appeal, the officer involved wrote on Sunday: “Straight from the horse's mouth, saddled with responsibility, Sarge is currently with two horses that have been wandering in and out of the road near Horders View, Swanmore.

“If you know who the horses belong to please call-in today. Thank you.”

Around half an hour after their Facebook appeal, the officers involved issued an update to tell residents that the owner of the horses had been located.

This comes after a recent warning from Hampshire police regarding being safe around animals such as horses, ponies and donkeys.

This was sparked by a young girl being injured by a grazing pony in the New Forest on Saturday, March 30.
