Southampton City Farm has opened a new community cafe.

The city farm in Millbrook cafe allows the community to enjoy affordable hot drinks and food in a hidden oasis.

Those enjoying the drinks will also have a chance to meet and greet the rescue animals.

The cafe has been supported by care company Home Instead, The Big Difference and Reach Social Enterprise.

Carrying out the official opening of the café was the Lord Mayor of Southampton, Cllr Valerie Laurent.

With the help of donations, volunteers have built a welcoming and accessible cafe space using recycled pallet wood, potted plants and donated sofas.

Tom Kitcher, who leads Southampton City Farm, said: "The cafe is partnered with The Big Difference, using perfectly good food that would have gone to waste, meaning we can offer the community affordable and inclusively priced food.

"The cafe is open every weekend between 11am to 4pm. The café is in place to help support the farm's activities and animals."
