Motorists are being warned to expect traffic congestion in Southampton today due to a high volume of cruise passengers descending on the city.

Three cruise ships are arriving in Southampton’s docks throughout Thursday, April 4, with two of the cruise liners departing by 8pm this evening.

Roads near the waterfront are expected to be busier than usual and drivers are being urged to plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays.

Alerting followers on X – formerly known as Twitter – a spokesperson for Southampton Travel said: “High volumes of cruise passengers are expected in the city today and tomorrow with cruise ships arriving/departing.
