Warmer temperatures are on their way to Southampton as the UK faces what is being described as a 'mini-heatwave'.
After a wet winter that saw the UK being hit by several storms and heavy bouts of flooding, Southampton should finally be embraced with warm rays of sunshine at the weekend.
But that is not before a gusty start to the week, with a yellow weather warning for wind being extended by the Met Office yesterday.
From the weekend onwards, the 'unseasonably warm' spell, as described by the Met Office, could see temperatures hit 15 degrees Celsius - above average for this time of year.
It is set to last three weeks, and has even been labelled as a 'mini-heatwave' by some national news outlets.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Rain and drizzle will pull away southwards Thursday but may be slow to clear. Drier and rather warm by Friday. Breezy at times.
“Southern and eastern areas are likely to have some decent drier spells of weather with some good sunshine at times.
“Here, whilst some rain is still likely, this probably less heavy and much less frequent than recent weeks.”
