An Iranian restaurant and café has been slapped with a low food hygiene rating score following an inspection.

Sidewalk South in Southampton was told ‘major improvement’ is necessary.

It is one of nineteen business in the city that have been handed a new rating.

Several restaurants, cafes, and takeaways were inspected by officials.

Every week, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) inspects businesses across the country, assessing hygiene and safety, structural compliance and confidence in management.

What each hygiene rating means:

  • 0 - Urgent improvement necessary
  • 1 - Major improvement necessary
  • 2 - Some improvement necessary
  • 3 - Hygiene standards generally satisfactory
  • 4 - Hygiene standards good
  • 5 - Hygiene standards very good

Scores given by the FSA this month so far.
