Police have confirmed there was a “bomb threat” at the OVO Wembley Arena.

Police cordoned off a section of Engineers Way, Lakeside Way and Empire Way this morning (April 22) in Wembley Park following the scare.

Officers were first called to reports of a “bomb threat”, the Metropolitan Police said.

A spokesperson added: “Officers attended the scene and carried out a thorough search of the premises.

“It was concluded that there was no threat to the premises and the incident was stood down.”

There were no arrests, but enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

At 12.41pm officers were told they could remove the police tape and allow people access to the roads that had been closed off.

During the incident, everyone inside Brent Civic Centre was forced to leave and certain shops were shut including The White Horse, Estadio Lounge. Access to the Hilton Hotel was also restricted.

Initially people were told that the Civic Centre would be closed all day as staff were sent home following the evacuation, but Brent Council has stated that the library will reopen by 3pm.

The council added: "For customer service support, please continue to use our website, call 020 8937 1234 or visit the Hubs at either Willesden Green Library or Ealing Road. Customer services at the Civic Centre will reopen as usual tomorrow."
