Emergency services have attended the Itchen Bridge due to an incident.
The bridge in Southampton was closed in both directions just before 5pm today.
Motorists were advised to find alternative routes.
The key route remained shut for around an hour and a half.
It has since reopened to traffic and emergency services have left the scene.
A photo shows an ambulance parked on the bridge with a number of people standing close by.
The nature of the incident is unknown at this time.
Southampton City Council has thanked drivers for their patience whilst the incident was dealt with.
Hampshire Constabulary has been approached for comment.
