Southampton will welcome another new cruise ship on Wednesday.

Celebrity Cruises' Apex ship – which will homeport from the city for the entirety of its 2024 season – sails into the city at 5.15am on Wednesday.

The award-winning cruise ship replaces the revitalised Celebrity Silhouette.

It will arrive tomorrow morning and depart at 4pm the same day.

Here’s everything you need to know

Where will Apex sail to this year?

Celebrity Apex will offer a mixture of four-to-13-night sailings between May and November 2024.

This will include voyages to the Norwegian Fjords, and locations such as Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and Tallinn.

Apex will also stop off at Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Iceland and Ireland.

How many passengers can the ship carry?

It has a capacity of 3,405 passengers and 1,320 crew members.

What can I do on Apex?

Passengers will never lack activities and things to do on the ship.

It boasts a casino, spa, several swimming pools, live entertainment, a rooftop garden, and much more.

Apex is also home to 29 restaurants, bars and lounges, which Celebrity Cruise bosses say is unlike a dining experience anywhere else.

‘Cruise like no other’

Lisa Lutoff Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, previously said having the Apex sail from Southampton will offer an experience like no other in the UK.

She added: “Celebrity Cruises continues to redefine cruising, taking our guests to the world’s best places on the world’s best places.”

The arrival of Celebrity Apex comes only two weeks after Queen Anne sailed into Southampton.

She arrived on April 30, much to the delight of cruise enthusiasts in and around the city.

Many people also travelled from further afield to catch a glimpse of the ship.

Cunard’s newest ship departed the city on her maiden voyage on May 3 as hoards of people watched the spectacle.
