Hampshire’s mental health charity Solent Mind is partnering with ZoieLogic Dance Theatre in a two-year collaboration to highlight men’s mental health.

The partnership aims to tackle loneliness among men, as studies show a third of males are at risk of isolation and solitude in their lives, and will focus on promoting socialisation and positive mental wellbeing.

They plan to accomplish this through mutual activities including dancing and other forms of physical engagement, within Solent Mind’s Mayfield Hub and across the Weston and Mayfield areas.

In fostering this creative collaboration, Solent Mind hopes to provide mental health awareness training to ZoieLogic’s employees and volunteers. They will also offer their personnel for delivery support during participant sessions wherever available.

ZoieLogic, renowned for its prowess in dance theatre, will reciprocate by boosting male involvement in Solent Mind’s initiatives and advocating for enhanced local provisions together.

The alliance will further extend to joint funding applications, uniting their shared goal to assemble resources supporting each organisation's respective efforts.

The partnership will reach its thrilling climax in Spring 2026 through a landmark event 'The Big Movement'. This anticipated gathering in Southampton will see hundreds of men performing a synchronised dance in a heartening display of unity.

Together they aim to spotlight the prevailing issue of men’s mental health. The collaboration takes place as Solent Mind rolls out its latest 'Thrive Inside' campaign.

The initiative encourages individuals to nurture their mental health daily, building strategies into their routine to foster inner wellbeing, with a key emphasis on movement throughout May.

Sally Arscott, CEO of Solent Mind, said: "In England, around one in eight men have a common mental health problem, but they’re much less likely to discuss or seek help when they’re feeling low, anxious or overwhelmed.

"At the same time, we know how participating in sports and exercising positively benefits men’s mental health, and fosters a sense of community and socialisation which encourages them to engage with others and express how they’re feeling.

"We’re proud to be partnering with ZoieLogic Dance Theatre to provide more opportunities for men to move more for positive mental health, and take another step towards a world where anyone who is experiencing a mental health problem has access to the support they need."

Zoie Golding, MBE, artistic director of ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, said: "We’re proud to partner with Solent Mind, marking a significant stride in our mission to amplify the impact of dance on men’s mental health and well-being. Collaborating on this long-term project empowers us to tackle the pressing challenges confronting men in today’s society."
