A Co-op store that was struck by thieves in a raid has re-opened today after repairing the damage to the front of the store.

On Tuesday, May 22, a Co-op convenience store was hit by "intruders" who managed to steal just a can of Red Bull and an empty cash drawer, according to police.

Co-op said its security measures, including a smoke cloak, were deployed during the incident and residents said they heard glass shattering before an alarm sounded at around 3am.

Today, the food store chain has confirmed the store is back open for business with a spokesperson for the Co-op adding: “We can confirm that the store has re-opened to serve the community.”

Damage was still visible at the store on Wednesday, with the glass door boarded up.

Hampshire Police is now appealing for more information with a spokesperson adding: “If you were in the area at the time of the incident and witnessed anything, please call 101 and quote incident number 44240212299.”
