The following cases have been heard at Southampton Magistrates' Court...

JAKE STEVENS, 31, of Cobden Avenue, Southampton pleaded guilty to drug driving on the A34 in Whitchurch. He was driving a blue Audi A3 at the time. Stevens received a 36-month driving ban and must pay a £400 fine. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £160 surcharge. 

TRACEY EDWARDS, 41, of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating and was found guilty of of assault by beating of an emergency worker. Both incidents took place in Bishops Waltham. He received an 18-month conditional discharge and must pay a £26 surcharge. 

ANDREW MELROSE, 50, of Burnetts Fields, Horton Heath admitted to a single count of theft from a motor vehicle. He stole a black torch, a small black-covered notebook, a bag of Lidl 'shells' crisps, an assortment of lollipops, a keychain with a five-cent coin encased in clear plastic, a silver key, two lighters, cigarette rolling papers and some loose change. Melrose was fined £80 and must pay £85 court costs and a £32 surcharge.

LEE HAZELL, 37, of Ashby Crescent, Totton pleaded guilty to theft from a shop after he stole £181.50 worth of meat from Marks and Spencer Food in New Milton. Hazell was jailed for eight weeks and must pay a £154 surcharge. 

VINCENT PHILLIPS, 41, of Farringford Road, Southampton pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He received a one-year community order with 15 rehabilitation days and a 42-month driving ban. He was fined £40 and must pay £85 court costs plus a £114 surcharge. 

MICHAEL VAUGHAN, 47, of Cygnus Gardens, Dibden pleaded guilty to speeding after he was caught on the M3 motorway near Old Basing at 80mph. He received three points and a £72 fine. He was ordered to pay £110 court costs and a £28 surcharge.
