"We were alerted to a fire at the site of the old Zen Japanese restaurant in Southampton just after 9pm on Friday, May 24.

"Six fire engines were in attendance, and six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. There were no reported injuries.

"We expect to maintain a presence at the scene for a number of hours whilst we dampen down to prevent hotspots, and work to establish the cause of the fire. Some road closures may be in place for a while longer."
