Police have raided a property in Southampton following the alleged assault of a teenage girl.

The incident was reported to have happened on Wednesday night at an address in Waterloo Road, Southampton.

Police carried out a warrant at the address on Friday as part of their investigation and were there until this morning.

One neighbour said she saw officers at the address on Wednesday night.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said no arrests had been made at the moment.

Their full statement said: "Police have been in attendance at an address on Waterloo Road in Southampton this week in connection with an ongoing assault investigation.

"We attended the address on Friday (July 5) to carry out a warrant, and remained there until this morning (Saturday 6 July).

"The warrant forms part of our ongoing enquiries into a report that a 17-year-old girl had been assaulted at an address in Southampton on Wednesday 3 July."
