Let's take a nostalgic trip back to Southampton in 1989, a year that witnessed significant changes and developments in the city.

Through a collection of photographs, we can explore the city's vibrant atmosphere, iconic landmarks, and the everyday life of its residents.

The year 1989 marked a period of significant change in Southampton's retail landscape.

While the Bargate Shopping Centre was nearing completion and set to open its doors that same year, the Mall Shopping Centre was still under construction, two years away from its grand opening.

In stark contrast to these developments, the city also witnessed the bittersweet demolition of the beloved ice skating rink.
