A Southampton student who missed a third of her lessons due to illness burst into tears when she found she had passed every exam.

Tallulah Rae Amies was overwhelmed when she opened her results on Thursday morning at Bitterne Park School.

The 16-year-old aspiring entrepreneur who suffers from the condition PoTS, missed around a third of her lessons due to illness.

Postural tachycardia syndrome is when your heart rate increases very quickly after getting up from sitting or lying down, and it causes Tallulah to faint.

Though she has since received appropriate medication to reduce symptoms, Tallulah was forced to study from home a lot of the time and did not finish a single exam.

But despite this, she passed all her GCSEs including 4s in history, maths, drama, French and English literature, a 5 in English language and a 5/4 in combined science.

Speaking over a celebratory coffee at Costa, the student - who now wants to study business and drama at Barton Peveril Sixth Form College in Eastleigh - said she is so relieved.

She said: "I am just so overwhelmed with excitement and joy and I am just so proud of myself. I put so much work into revising.

"I didn’t think I would even pass anything. A lot of times I was sent work to do at home and I would revise all night before my exams.

"I have been wanting to go to Barton since I was in Year 7. I have been working towards that for a long time. It is such a relief."

Tallulah was also diagnosed with autism and ADHD in the lead-up to her exams.

She wants to go to university to study business with the aim of working in marketing or becoming an entrepreneur.

Proud mum Rachael Samuelson said: "It has been quite a thing to deal with. Before she was medicated properly she missed a lot of school. She missed a lot of her GCSEs.

"We filmed her opening the results and she just burst into tears crying and said she has passed everything. Everybody just cried.

"She is super clever, she just can’t keep her brain focused on the paper. We are so proud.

"It was really hard, it was actually heart breaking because we know she was capable but her body was letting her down.

"We were just so pleased because she passed every single exam."
