A new housing development, with 25 homes just for affordable rent or shared ownership, is starting construction in Dibden Purlieu.
After prior rejections, the AJC Group received planning permission in January 2024 from New Forest District Council (NFDC) for the homes.
Built on behalf of the Aster Group, the development near the edge of New Forest promises to help locals stay in the area amidst rising house prices.
These affordable homes will include two-, three-, and four-bedroom units and are a much-needed addition to the local housing stock. The houses, located on Noads Way, feature traditional style and aim to enhance the local area.
Existing mature trees and grass verges are being preserved, with additional planting planned to create an attractive streetscape.
Half a mile from Dibden Purlieu town centre, the development provides easy access to nearby shops, schools, and public transport. Regular buses service the area, connecting to local towns, villages and the city of Southampton.
New Forest District Council will allocate the 11 homes available for rent. For further information on shared ownership homes, visit the Aster Group's website.
David Cracklen, director of AJC Group, said: "The New Forest is an area of Hampshire which is dramatically lacking in affordable housing stock. This development will make a real impact in meeting some of the local housing needs in the village and surrounding area.
"The development will allow the next generation to afford to rent and buy in an area where they might have grown up or have family living. Our vision has always been to deliver lasting change through the building of affordable homes in sustainable vibrant communities, and this is exactly our aim for Dibden Purlieu."
Amanda Williams, chief investment officer at Aster Group, said: "This will be our second 100 per cent affordable development in the New Forest and we are delighted to be bringing more affordable homes to a traditionally very expensive area.
"We know the homes are going to make a huge difference to local people’s lives and we are delighted that the New Forest District Council is in support of making sure the right homes are delivered in the right places for the local community."
