Plans for a takeaway in a shipping container outside a supermarket have been given the green light.
An application was submitted by Tesco to install a food and drink business next to to their Bursledon store.
The proposals were approved by Eastleigh Borough Council, despite the lack of information provided about the takeaway.
Councillors criticised the lack of clarity about the plans which were submitted in March of this year.
The plans by Tesco detailed the installation of a ‘dark blue’ container with a ‘gold canopy’ to the side of the store.
The takeaway will take up a ‘largely unused space’ next to the car park access ramp.
“No parking will be lost and there are a proposed four members of staff”, the applicant said.

Tesco added: “The proposed new container will serve as a dedicated space for potential new tenants, offering them a protected area when conducting business activities.
“The takeaway shall not operate outside of the hours of the main supermarket.”
Councillors in the Bursledon ward objected to the proposals due to a “lack of information and clarity of purpose of the container.”
“Concerns were raised regarding the gathering of people to use the facility and further information is required regarding the relocation of the existing cycle racks”, Sue Hannen, parish clerk said.
It is not yet known what food and drink the takeaway will serve.
