A man from Southampton has been arrested by police as he walked into a supermarket.
Officers arrested the 36-year-old on Hatley Road after he was spotted by police walking towards Tesco Express on West End Road.
He was quickly detained and officers escorted him to custody at 8.30pm in the evening.
This arrest was one of several updates provided by police on social media.
Officers also said they met with members of the community at Thornhill Baptist Church for a community meeting to discuss the Hampshire Alert scheme.
This is a free messaging service that allows the police, Neighbourhood Watch and other partner organisations to keep residents informed about issues in their area that are relevant.
A police spokesperson said: "We also joined in with the public to give a police presence and to answer any questions they may have.
"In addition, please join PCSO Morrison 12931 at Sainsbury's Portswood Road on Saturday, September 14 at 10am for a beat surgery."
