Police detain man after emergency services close Itchen Bridge (Image: Newsquest)
The Itchen Bridge was closed by police in the early hours of the morning following concerns for a man.
Officers were called to the bridge shortly after 1.30am this morning (September 7) due to concerns for the welfare of a man.
The bridge was shut whilst emergency services attended.
A Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed a man was detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act.
The road reopened at around 2am.
