Lifeboat crews have rescued six people onboard a 43ft motor cruiser after the vessel got stuck in a busy shipping lane in the Solent.
Cowes RNLI lifeboat launched at 10.10pm on Saturday following reports a motor cruiser carrying six passengers had suffered engine failure north of North Cardinal Buoy off Cowes foreshore.
Though the craft had deployed its anchor, the lifeboat crew feared the vessel might still be involved in a collision with a passing ship.

A spokesperson for the RNLI said: “On the scene, after the lifeboat crew had difficulty in raising the anchor, the anchor chain was eventually cut, leaving the anchor on the sea bed.”
They added: “The lifeboat then towed the craft to Trinity Landing, before returning to the lifeboat station about ten minutes past midnight.”
