Police have seized a ‘large quantity of cannabis plants’ from a home in Southampton and arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of cultivating a Class B drug.
Officers in Southampton broke through the door and have executed a warrant at a home on Northam Road, Southampton, on Sunday night.
Hampshire police said that a large quantity of cannabis plants in varying stages of growth were recovered from the premises.
Residents of Northam Road have told the Echo that they observed some suspicious activity in recent weeks, including men carrying boxes into the property.
The resident of three years said: "On a number of different occasions I saw around eight guys going in and out of the property.
"Initially we thought they were builders, but we got suspicious when they seemed to be bringing large tubs into the property.
"It was quite clear that they were trying to make the place look like a building site."

Another resident of Northam Road, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "I’m not surprised there’s something like this to have happened.
"I think the area has really gone downhill. I have never actually seen anyone going in and out of that property. I suppose it could be that they’re coming in an hour at night."
Another added: "I’m not surprised at all. We knew that something had been going on in this row of houses because a neighbour of mine noticed something suspicious recently."
A police spokesperson said: “Police officers attended a residential property on Northam Road just after 1.30pm on Sunday, September 8 following police enquiries into an unrelated matter.
“Entry was gained to the property and upon searching the premises, officers located a large quantity of cannabis plants in varying stages of growth.
“A 31-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion cultivating a Class B drug.
“He has since been released on bail pending further enquires. Officers remain on scene today as we carry out our enquiries into this matter.”
A strong smell of cannabis plants is present around the area of the home.
