A Hampshire law firm has appointed its first female senior partner.

Shentons Solicitors, a high street firm, welcomed Chloe Jay to the role. She is only the sixth person to hold the position in 50 years.

Mrs Jay, who joined Shentons in 2012 and became a partner in 2016, will continue practising criminal law. In her new role, she will also manage the firm's strategic direction.

Ms Jay said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be appointed as Senior Partner, and I want to continue to build on the firm’s excellent reputation both for client care and as a genuinely flexible and inclusive workplace for our staff. I am excited for the future!"

The previous Senior Partner Shaun Underhill said: "I am delighted to be passing the baton onto Chloe, who became an equity partner in 2020 following the birth of her second child. I know she will continue to be a driver for change at the firm whilst being committed to delivering excellent legal services to our clients."
