A luxury retirement village in Romsey has launched a hedgehog conservation programme.
Audley Stanbridge Earls, part of the Audley Group, has implemented 'Project Snuffle' to help the small creatures, which are now a species of concern on the UK's endangered list.
The project follows the National Hedgehog Strategy guidelines, which include creating hedgehog houses and highways, safe feeding areas, and pesticide-free zones.
Phil Rolfe, chair of the ESG committee and development director at Audley Group, said: "We are delighted with the overwhelming amount of support we’ve received from owners and staff members for Project Snuffle.
"Many of our Audley villages feature acres of woodland where nature follows its course and it’s important to us to help where we can."
"The data gathered by participating Audley and Mayfield villages will be inputted into the Royal Horticultural Society’s online portal and be fed into its national overview of hedgehog activity to help inform future conservation strategies."
