A GP has been appointed chair of trustees at a charity promoting healthier lives through physical activity.

Dr Paul O’Halloran has taken up the role at Energise Me, which serves communities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Dr O’Halloran said: "I’ve witnessed the transformative power of physical activity in the prevention and treatment of so many physical and mental health conditions.

"I’m looking forward to advocating for and supporting the Energise Me team in their life-changing work."

He succeeds Jon Monkom, who served as chair for eight years.

Julie Amies, chief executive of Energise Me, said: "A huge thank you to Jon, who has provided support and guidance in his role as chair over the past eight years.

"Now as we enter another exciting period, I’m looking forward to working closely with Paul, and the experience and knowledge he brings, especially as we work to tackle health inequalities."
