Plans for six new bungalows for the over-55s have been approved.

The development, located behind a property on Sydney Avenue, Hamble-le-Rice, will also include landscaping, parking, and vehicle access from the same road.

The site is close to amenities including shops, doctor's surgeries, and sports facilities, with additional services available via Hamble train station, which links directly to Southampton and Portsmouth.

The bungalows will be designed with older residents in mind, featuring single-storey layouts, tiled pitched roofs, and rendered walls.

Each unit will offer private indoor and outdoor space with a large central communal green area for residents.

All bungalows will be fitted with water butts for rainwater harvesting and solar panels to reduce heating costs.

Access to the new plots will be from Sydney Avenue, with an additional pedestrian path enclosed by a close-boarded fence for added security.

Parking is limited to a dedicated area to the north of the development, with extra spaces for nursing staff and medical vehicles.

The council has outlined a number of conditions, including that the development must start within three years, and that a construction environment management plan must be approved before any work begins.
