Families can enjoy free entry to popular National Trust property Mottisfont, near Romsey, this weekend as part of the Heritage Open Days event.

Enjoy free guided walks, a walled kitchen garden full of flowers and produce, and a river walk taking you meadows behind the house for nothing on Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21.

Inside the house there’s a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang exhibition featuring original illustrations and a life-size Chitty car you can sit in.

The secondhand bookshop is also hosting a mini book fayre – fill a Mottisfont bag for only a fiver. There’s everything from classics to thrillers, gardening advice to history.

Mottisfont is a former Augustinian priory turned into a comfortable country house, with 20th century interiors where original medieval features can still be seen.

Nestled deep in the picturesque Test Valley and surrounded by lush stream-fed gardens. Mottisfont has a big café, a plant centre, shop, and Wild Play area for kids.
