A Jack Sparrow impersonator has helped launch this year’s Southampton International Boat Show.
The lookalike arrived in style aboard the cutting-edge Thunder Child II, a dramatic start to the 10-day event taking place between September 19 and 28.
The opening ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries and industry figures, including Below Deck Down Under star Captain Jason Chambers, who cut the ribbon alongside British Marine president Robert Parton, president elect Lyndsay McClay, British Marine CEO Lesley Robinson, and councillor Alex Winning, leader of Southampton City Council.
Cllr Winning said: "Few places can match Southampton’s maritime heritage.
"The show continues that tradition by showcasing the very best of the marine world today, while highlighting the innovation and sustainability that will shape its future."
Now in its 56th year, the UK’s largest boating event is expected to welcome more than 100,000 visitors, with more than 500 boats and watercraft on display.
The show features world debuts from brands including Dufour, Performance Marine Group, and Orkney, alongside feature vessels such as the Clipper 70 race yacht and the 52ft Outerlimits Good Boy Vodka.

Visitors can enjoy a packed schedule of live entertainment, on-the-water displays, and hands-on experiences.
Highlights include appearances by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Dale Smyth, Hannah Mills OBE, and adventurer Aldo Kane.
Other attractions include the Boating Academy, Wooden Boat Stage, and Chefs Ahoy Galley Kitchen Stage, offering live demos and culinary experiences.
Family-friendly activities include paddleboarding, scuba diving, the LEGO Maritime Project, and meet-and-greets with mascots such as Captain Ted Funnel and Marina the Mermaid.
The event also features a street food market, the Quarterdeck Bar and Restaurant, and the premium Waterside Lounge experience.
Tickets start from £29, with concessions from £23.
Children aged 15 and under enter free with a paying adult.
