A supermarket on a New Forest high street will not be closing despite the building it is in being up for sale, the Echo can confirm.

The freehold for the building that houses the Tesco Express on Lymington High Street has hit the market for a massive £3.25 million.

According to the listing from Savills, Tesco has occupied the building for over 60 years and the lease has eight years remaining.

The Echo understands that the shop will remain open while and after the building is sold, and that there is not expected to be any impact on the store during or after this process.

The property is described as being in a "100% prime position" in the centre of Lymington, with a commercial rent of £209,500 per year.

The building extends across three storeys at the front beneath a mansard roof, and two storeys at the rear with a flat roof.

Ancillary storage is located on the first floor, accessed from the rear of the ground floor.

Two goods lifts link with the first floor and two concertina loading doors open to the rear service yard.

The first and second floors at the front contain two self-contained flats, each with four rooms, a kitchen, bathroom, and WC.

Both flats have independent access from the High Street.
